Who knew it would be so difficult to find a sandbox? We went to SuperTarget first and they were out so Dean had to drag me to Wal-Mart. Out as well. We then tried Lowe's and they had one, but not the one I wanted. Sigh. We ended up getting it anyways because it was getting close to Ayla's bedtime and we didn't want to go anywhere else. And because Dean and I were both way too gung-ho about getting one to go home empty-handed. We were a little too excited because we're dorks like that.
After Ayla's nap today, she woke up as her alter-ego--Miss Crabby Pants--until I threw her clothes and shoes on and brought her outside to check out her new toy. Daddy and Grandpa had already been outside for hours building a garden for veggies.
This sandbox has two sections--one for sand. Duh. And another for water, but it wasn't warm enough today to play with water so we just left it empty. I have a feeling once we do have both sides filled, it's all going to get mixed together. This is the very reason why I didn't want to get this particular one, but oh well. So far she loves it.After Ayla's nap today, she woke up as her alter-ego--Miss Crabby Pants--until I threw her clothes and shoes on and brought her outside to check out her new toy. After a little while, Meghan, Chris, and Heidi came over to play. The girls were both entertained by the sandbox for a good chunk of time. Looks like it's a keeper.
They stopped to take a break and munch on some snacks...in other words, Ayla mooched off of Heidi. She kept holding her hands out for more and Heidi figured her out and started turning away from her. Too funny. :)
Heidi kept her sunglasses on the whole time...so awesome.
The girls ended up playing inside for a little while before we decided to grab some dinner at Pizza Gourmet. I think all the snacking put a damper on their appetites (not that Ayla would have eaten anyways). They did manage to polish off nearly an entire shaker of grated parmesan cheese though. Parents of the Year, we know.
It was a nice, relaxing (as relaxing as it can be with two toddlers running around) afternoon and evening with great friends. We all enjoyed the fact that we didn't have any set plans for the entire weekend. Sometimes those are the best.
