Nai-Nai

We lost my sweet grandma this morning. She lived a very long and healthy life and for that, I'm very thankful. The last time I saw her was nearly ten years ago when she traveled here from Taiwan to be at my wedding. I was able to see her and talk to her on FaceTime last night. She couldn't speak but my mom said she knew it was me. My parents happened to already be in Taiwan so they were able to be with her at the hospital. My grandparents lived with us for several years while we were growing up. They helped raise us while my parents were busy establishing the family business. She was such a sweet, gentle, loving person...I carry nothing but good memories of her. After 18 years, she is back together with my grandpa. ❤️

Cute lil lunch date!

Thanksgiving 2014

This year, every picture I took while we were in Ohio was on my cell phone. I didn't even bring my camera. It actually felt pretty good to not have it with me! :)  The girls did really well traveling...we broke the trip into two days so we weren't in the car for TOO long.  We stopped at our hotel in time to do some swimming so the girls could show Dean all the new tricks they've learned in swimming lessons and then headed out to dinner before getting the girls in bed. It was much more relaxing than trying to cram too many driving hours in one day.

Quiet time after swimming.

"Happy Hour" at the hotel before dinner.

Ready to get back on the road the next morning!

So I found a couple of little stamps for Aubree to play with. I turned around for maybe a minute and a half. When I looked at her, she had stamped both of her eyelids. There was also ink on her fingers, her car seat buckle, and her blankies.

These headphones worked out so well. Great purchase.

Our "hotel" for the week.

Silly girls eating dinner.

Sweet girls on Thanksgiving Day

Bloody Mary bartender!

The guys carving the turkey.

Pretty girls!

Aunt Janie brought a bunch of paper lanterns for everyone to light. They were so cool!

Who doesn't like whipped cream?

Ayla snuggling with Grandpa

Aubree "flying" with Grandma!

Playing crokinole

We went over to the candy shop so the girls could make gingerbread houses. They were looking forward to it all week!

On the road home...crazy Aubree...

...and a calm Ayla. :)

Aubree passed out 20 minutes before we made it to the hotel. I'm surprised she held on that long!

We had dinner at our friend, Syd's, brother's restaurant.

When I went in to check on them, this is what they looked like. They look like they passed out mid-fight. :)

Lounging the next morning.
