More ZZZ's...

I'm beginning to think I'm narcoleptic. Seriously. Any time my butt touches a couch or bed, all I need is a few minutes and I'm OUT...crazy dreams and all. If I could figure out a way to sleep while standing, I'd probably do it.

I've had a good couple of days with the whole pukey's eased up a little...hopefully it'll stay away throughout this weekend because Dean and I are heading to San Diego for a little early anniversary get-away. He planned it as a surprise! I'm so excited to be near the ocean and for some nice weather!

One more week until my first appointment!

I don't think I understood the true meaning of being tired until the past few days. Really. I don't know if it's my lingering cold that's making me extra tired or what! At the end of the evening, I can't wait to go to soon as I wake up in the morning, I can't wait until the next time I can fall asleep again. I feel like a freaking zombie. I'm NOT a nap-person at all, but I've been taking lots of them lately.

On top of that, I've started to feel pretty nauseous (sp?) throughout the whole day. It seems like if I wait too long to eat, I don't feel well (which if you know me, you know that's pretty typical even if I'm NOT pregnant!) But then when I do eat, if I eat too much I feel barf-y again. Nothing sounds good right now...again, it could be because of my cold...can't taste much!

It's nothing I can't handle though...I'm interested to see what other new symptoms begin to pop up the next few's all part of the experience, right?

Our families know!

We told Dean's family on Sunday night when they came over for dinner! We didn't know if it was going to work out since I was sick, but we had REALLY been looking forward to it so we kept things as planned. Barb (Dean's mom) had talked to Dean on the phone earlier in the evening and said that they didn't have to come over if I wasn't feeling well. My first thought was "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" I really felt pretty crappy, but really wanted the night to work out!
After a few drinks had been poured (none for me, of course ) and we chatted for a bit in the kitchen, I went and grabbed the little boxes and said we had a late Valentine's Day present for them. I actually got nervous watching them open them...I could feel my heart thumping! I was so excited for them to know!

While we watched them open them, I decided that the tissue paper AND ribbon was felt like it took forever to open!! I wish I had a hidden camera somewhere! It was so fun to watch! Barb guessed it was underwear (hehe) and then I don't remember if it was Marla or Barb who guessed a onesie. Once the word "onesie" was in the air, I think they had an idea and knew what was going on. After they were completely opened, there were hugs and tears everywhere. SO fun! It felt really good to finally tell was the longest week ever to not be able to say anything!! We have a proud Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Marla! This will be the first grandchild for Dean's parents! (Barb said it had crossed her mind that maybe this was why we invited them over for dinner...which means we don't have them over for dinner often enough!! Dean said we wouldn't wait until our next baby to get together again at our house!)
We had to wait til Monday (yesterday) to tell my family because my parents have been in Taiwan for the last three weeks. My brother always picks them up from the airport and we have this weird tradition now where the whole family goes over to my parents' house and we watch them open their four huge suitcases full of stuff that they brought back. The living room ends up looking like a yard sale.

I was hoping that this time wouldn't be any different and that everyone would be over there, but my brother seemed a little iffy about it because he had so much to do at home after work. I asked him a couple times if he was going to head over there, but he seemed pretty hesitant and I didn't want to keep bugging him about it. SO, I decided that I would just give him his onesie first. I told him he had to go to the back room at work and that he couldn't show anyone what was in it. I think I freaked him out cuz he was convinced that something was going to pop out of the box so he was holding the box as far away as possible. Weirdo. I watched him open it and at first, the onesie was upside down and he kind of just let out this little laugh and smiled but then he kind of just froze and his face dropped and I could see the wheels turning in his head. He said, "Wait." and looked at me and said, "Really?!?" And he gave me a HUG! Ping's not a huggy person (with me anyways) so it was a big deal. He said at first he thought it was something I made for one of his kids and then he realized the wording was all wrong because it said I Uncle Ping on it. So NOW he wanted to go over to my parents' house and he made me promise that I would wait for him to get over there to do the rest of the onesies.

So once Ping got over to my parents' house, I got the little boxes out and handed them to my mom, dad, and Lindsey. I think Lindsey knew right away because she's been so anxious for it but she held it in until my mom had hers open...then the screaming started. Lindsey started screaming and then my MOM was screaming...I don't think I've ever heard my mom scream like that in all my life! It was hilarious! And then my 3-year old niece, Haylee had no idea what was going on but decided to scream too. My poor dad seemed to be confused at what the ruckus was about so in the middle of screaming and jumping, my mom said that I was pregnant. THEN, my mom proceeded to hit me with the onesie I just gave her because she said I should have told her while she was in Taiwan so she could've bought things for the baby. That's exactly why I didn't tell her...she would have come home with the entire country. Seriously.

We also told Tom, Jim, Lisa, and Jamie...there are still a couple people I'd like to call and then we'll probably wait a while longer to tell more people.

We are so thrilled and blessed that we have two amazing families and a group of wonderful friends who are so loving and supportive in every way. It's been so exciting to be able to share this with them. What a lucky baby we're going to have!

***I don't mean to write a freaking novel everytime, sorry!***

Sick with something...but getting better!

On Saturday, I had my first experience with crying for absolutely no reason. Dean and I were laying in bed on Saturday morning talking about what we were going to do with our day. He just finished saying that he was planning on going to Cabela's with our friend, Jim, when I felt myself get all teary-eyed. I was a bit weirded out because that's obviously nothing to cry about, so I turned and faced the other way hoping that the tears would stop. They didn't. And when Dean asked what was wrong and if it was something he said, I cried even more. So weird. I assured Dean that it wasn't him. Then, that night at work, some stupid lady made me mad, which is a pretty common occurrence...but instead of just getting annoyed and letting it go, I cried. Yep, in the almost 11 years I've worked at our restaurant, I've never cried. I'm pretty sure my brother thought I was that point he didn't know yet that I was pregnant.

On Sunday, I woke up feeling pretty run down and sluggish and ended up having a fever which peaked at 102.5. I flipped out because I know that having a high temp so early on in a pregnancy can potentially be bad. I also know I read too much CRAP on the Internet, so I freaked myself out even more. From now on, I'm going to rely on my books and my doctor/nurses/family/friends for information. Good idea, right?

I ended up going to the doctor yesterday temperature was down to 99 and they tested me for the flu, which surprisingly, came back negative. (They stuck a 6-inch cotton swab up my nose...definitely not one of the best feelings I've experienced!) They actually didn't even tell me what was wrong with me...I'm assuming it's my typical cold/sinus infection. Fun stuff

Holy moly, we're having a baby!

I know what you're all thinking..."It's about time!"

We found out that I was pregnant on Friday February 8th! After several months with no luck because my cycles are very irregular (the last two lasted 45 days or so), I REALLY didn't think this month was going to be it. I was expecting my period earlier in the week, but when it didn't come, I kind of just figured that I was having an even longer cycle.

I decided to take a home pregnancy test just for the heck of it. I sat in the bathroom and put the test on the ground while I waited for the result. I was supposed to wait for three minutes, so I got my phone out to watch the time.

When I looked down, I seriously couldn't believe it! I snatched that test up and blinked a few times to make sure I wasn't just seeing things! Then I grabbed the instruction sheet to make sure I was reading it correctly. I was! Holy CRAP!!!! I just sat there staring at it for what felt like forever. I knew that I wanted to tell Dean in person, not over the phone, so I was trying to figure out how I could go through an entire day without telling him! I wouldn't see him until I got home from work that night at 9.

I hopped into the shower, all the while, trying to come up with a good way to tell Dean when I heard a knock on the bathroom door. It was Dean! He was on his way to work and realized he had forgotten his briefcase so he had to come back home to get it. How perfect!!

I cracked open the door and told him I had to show him something. His eyes got HUGE! I picked up the test and showed it to him. I think he was floored.

Needless to say, we are SO very very excited! It's been so hard not telling our family and close friends yet...especially since we talk to or see most of them quite often. We wanted to wait a little while since it's still so early on, but we've decided to tell Dean's family on Sunday and my family on Monday (after my parents come home from Taiwan). We CAN'T WAIT to see their reactions!! I bought a bunch of white onesies and ironed on I love Grandma, I love Grandpa, etc for each of our parents and our siblings. I rolled them up and tied them with ribbon and put them in little take-out style boxes. We're going to have them each open their "late Valentine's Day" present. Fun stuff! Hopefully they get what's going on! I'll post a couple pictures of the onesies...

Right now, the only friends who know are Meghan and Chris...they're part of the preggo club...Meghan is about halfway through her pregnancy and I'm sooooo excited that we're pregnant at the same time! She is a wonderful friend and I love that we're sharing this amazing experience.

Bear with me, this first entry is getting a little long! Just a couple more things--
I had a blood test done that same Friday to confirm the pregnancy...I had to wait until Monday morning to get the results! Torture! I was able to schedule my first appointment which will be on Friday March 7th. It feels so far away at this point! I'm really looking forward to it!

So far, I'm feeling great...I've only known for a week, but I have to remind myself periodically that I'm pregnant! It doesn't seem real yet! I get tired when I drive. I end up yawning all the way to and from work everyday. Ooh and my favorite part so far--my boobs. Hehe. I don't know if it's just in my head, but I swear they've gotten bigger already...sore, but bigger.
