Aubree's 3rd birthday-fun-day!

Yesterday was Aubree's actual birthday (we had her party today...pictures to come) so we took her out and about for a fun (busy) day and let her make a lot of decisions on what to do and where to go.  So fun.  Dean had to miss her first two birthdays due to work conferences so I was super excited to get to do this as a family!

We let her open the presents from us after she got out of bed instead of waiting until her party today. (I took pictures on my regular camera...I'll post those later).  Everyone needs presents to open on their actual birthday. :)  Ayla picked something out for her and drew her a super sweet card.  She was so excited to give it to her little sister.  So cute.  One of the things we got her was an Ana (fromt the movie Frozen) dress up costume.  She insisted on putting it on and proceeded to wear it for most of the day.  Everywhere we went, she had to make sure to take her coat off so she could show it off. :)

After breakfast, we headed out...she wanted a snack for the road.  What did she pick?  Potato chips.  Not the healthiest choice...especially for 10:00 a.m. but, hey, it was her birthday. :)

She stopped snacking for a few minutes to take a Happy Birthday call from Aunt Marla. :)

First stop, SuperTarget.  We even let her run free.  Big deal right there.  HUGE.  We had to pick out a gift for a birthday party that Ayla was going to.

While we were at Target, I couldn't resist getting her Olaf.  Her smiles and giggles while she played with him were irresistible. Of all the times I've been to Target, I've never seen this toy there...they're always sold out, so I had to snag him while I could.

We dropped Ayla off at her friend, Regan's party and the three of us headed to Scheel's for a ride on the ferris wheel.  Turns out, the rest of the city was there to do the same thing.  There was some sort of event going on and the ferris wheel rides were free.  They're normally only a dollar but apparently everyone wanted to save a buck.  We were there for nearly an hour to be on the ferris wheel for about seven minutes. She waited pretty patiently though, despite how long we had to stand in line.

On the ferris wheel checking everything out!

Next up, lunch. At first, she chose Burger King (gross...we've never taken her there) and luckily after a few minutes, she changed her mind and picked Runza instead.  Smart girl. :)  She picked her go-to meal whenever we eat out--chicken strips, fries, and chocolate milk.

 Love that scrunchy little face!

After lunch, we headed back to pick up Ayla from the party and decided to stay and play some more.  It was at Sempeck's, which is a bowling alley, but they have a game area as well.

This "game" was a ride where you watch a screen and the seats move so it feels like you're on the ride.  The girls picked a race car one.  I think Aubree was pretty nervous at first, but once she saw Ayla laughing and having a good time, she was more at ease. :)

Aubree looks terrified in this picture!

They ran from game to game and picked out a few to actually play. For Aubree, she would have had plenty of fun just checking out the games without using any points/tokens.  I don't think she knew the difference. She was having a blast just sitting/standing on them and pushing random buttons, even if she wasn't really playing them.

They took some pictures in a photo booth...love it!

After we used up all of the points on our card and picked out a couple of prizes, we asked Aubree what she wanted to do next.  She said she wanted to go to HyVee.  Hahaha...so easy to please.  She requested a "choo-choo" cart, like usual.  She also wanted to check out the live lobsters and then get a free cookie from the bakery.

After HyVee, we figured they could both use a breather so we went home to relax for a little while before dinner.

Aubree, of course, wanted to watch Frozen with her new Frozen friends.  She sat and watched the whole thing and sang and danced to the music.  It really is such a good movie!  They've both watched it a few times already, since my mom bought it for them, but this was the first time I've watched it all the way through since we saw it in the theater.  So good. :)

Before heading out to dinner, Aubree had to make a quick wardrobe change.  She went from the Ana dress to Ayla's old flower girl dress from my brother's wedding.  It's a big, poofy, white dress.  Very fancy for our fancy dinner at...

Red Robin. :)  We asked her where she wanted to go and we knew she would either pick Red Robin or Lazlo's because those are the only two places we ever go for dinner.

Grandma and Grandpa met us there and we also ended up sitting right next to our friends whose birthday party Ayla went to earlier.  The girls started out okay, but as it got later and later, and they got hungrier and hungrier, they both started to lose it.  We let Aubree skip her nap so she was a ticking time bomb.

We tried to get a family picture, but it was in the midst of a meltdown. Hilarious.

We finally got our food and all was well again.  I don't think we've ever seen Ayla eat as fast as she did.  She inhaled her mac n cheese.  It was pretty impressive.

After we ate, a few servers came over to sing happy birthday and brought her an ice cream sundae the size of her head.

She was having trouble getting spoonfuls out of the sundae so she asked for help...

...after a while, she decided to take matters into her own hands.  Who needs spoons, anyway?

She happily shared with Ayla.  Pure dessert bliss in this picture. :)
We had a FULL, fun day with both of them.  I think all four of us were exhausted! :)
