Fabulous 4-day weekend

Dean and I both had Saturday through Tuesday off. Best. Four. Days. Ever. On Friday night, Dean's parents took the girls so we could go out for a few hours and go to dinner and a movie. It's amazing how refreshing that can be. It a was so nice to be able to sit and talk without any interruptions. It was such a great start to a great weekend.

On Saturday, we checked out the Farmer's Market at Village Pointe and went out to lunch. We had a pretty lazy rest of the day and just hung out at home.

On Sunday, we had people over to grill and watch our neighbors' annual fireworks show. Once again, they did not disappoint. We had planned on letting Ayla stay up to watch the show, but decided against it when just the small fireworks freaked her out. She spent most of the afternoon with her hands over her ears and then ended up wearing some headphones to muffle the booms. She went to bed with no problem at her normal time and slept through everything. Aubree did great too--Grandma held her the whole time and had her ears covered. She, too, slept through everything. Amazing.

Monday morning, we had a picnic with Dean's family at Standing Bear Lake. The weather was perfect. Ayla had so much fun bouncing around. I got some great pictures of both girls while we were there. Later that afternoon, we went over to my brother's house to swim. Ayla wasn't as excited about it as we thought she'd be. She spent more time on the swingset than in the pool. We dipped Aubree in for about ten seconds and for those ten seconds, she hated life. Poor baby. There's always next year. :) After we left my brother's, we came home for dinner and then went outside to light a lantern (like in the movie, Tangled).

Tuesday was Dean's birthday. After we had the girls dressed and ready to go in the morning, we headed to the zoo for a few hours. It was a great morning. Both girls did sooo well despite the heat and how long we were there. Ayla (well, and I guess Aubree too) went on her first "choo-choo" train ride. She was so happy! She waved to all the animals and people as we rode by. She was especially excited when the conductor waved back. :) Dean's family came over for dinner and presents. It was a fun night to top off a fun day. Happy Birthday Dean! Hope you had a good day! [I don't have pictures from this day uploaded yet, so I will add them later.]
