Labor Day

How do these long weekends fly by so fast? Yesterday, we started the day with a morning picnic with Dean's family. The weather was perfect! This wasn't your average picnic--we had bacon, scrambled eggs, cheesy potatoes, bagels, cinnamon bread, and fruit. :) The girls had so much fun riding their trike and scooter and digging around in the sand play area.

After the picnic, we decided to drive out to the Wildlife Safari. It's been a few years since we've been out there. I love impromptu outings and just playing things by ear. Once we were inside the park, we let the girls unbuckle and look out the window (the speed limit was 7mph, so we figured it was pretty safe). I am not sure if they had more fun being unbuckled or seeing the animals.

Right after I took this picture, this bison turned around and started kicking dirt clumps everywhere. We had to hurry and shut my window before the dirt flew into our car!

When we got home, the girls wanted to play outside with our neighbors so we ended up just hanging out for a couple hours while the kids played on the slip n slide (this ended up being extremely short-lived because it wasn't warm enough)...they decided to drive their little jeeps and play with bubbles instead. :)

After the girls went to bed, Dean and I made homemade pizzas on the Big Green Egg. Our pizzas weren't the most attractive ones we've ever seen, but I think for our first run, they turned out great! They were yummy!

Great weekend!!
