Aubree's First Day of Preschool!

Aubree started her first year of preschool this morning. She still seems too tiny to be going to school...I can't believe this day is already here. She has been excited to start. We've all been talking it up (especially big sister, Ayla). :) I haven't really thought about it a ton (about her starting preschool) like I did when Ayla started. It's like the band-aid has already been ripped off because I've gone through it once already...but all of a sudden, I was totally weirded out this morning thinking about how this is the end of a chapter. From now on, I won't have a child home with me all day. I'm off work this week, so it's strange. Once I'm back at work, I won't notice it as much but it's still weird to think about. And also, from here on out, I will have a child in school for the next 20 years. Whoa. Crazy. I'm excited for this new stage. It's good for them. It's good for me. Of course, they're so cute when they're tiny babies...but it's so fun to have two little people I can actually talk to. :)
Breakfast before school!

Love this one. :)

I know I'm biased, but seriously...they're so cute, I can't even stand it.

As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, we spotted her little friend, Rielle. Dean and I went to college with Rielle's parents and their son, Cohen, was in Ayla's preschool class last year and now they are both at the same elementary school. I think it really helped both little girls to have each other there. Familiar faces are always nice. :)

Aubree was totally at ease while we waited for the door to the classroom to open but as soon as her teacher, Mrs. P, swung that door open, her little head whipped around and she gave me this look. Like holy sh*t, you're actually going to make me do this?! Her eyes got big, her little lip stuck out and her finger went up to her mouth. I panicked on the inside. I thought, "OMG, she's going to have one of her epic tantrums and I'll have to leave her in the midst of it." I just smiled and said, "It's ok! It's time to go in with Rielle!" She hesitated for another second but then they grabbed hands and walked in without looking back. Whew.

After walking in, they had to find their name on the ground and then go find their spot at one of the tables.
We watched for a couple of minutes from the door and they both seemed to be doing okay. Once all the kids were in, we walked around to a different door and peeked in through a window for another few minutes. They had all the kids sitting in a circle, quiet, and listening within a minute. Aubree looked a bit bewildered at first but then seemed more relaxed once Mrs. P had them clapping and following along to hand movements. I saw a brief smile when Mrs. P chanted, "If your name is Aubree, please stand up!" So far, so good. :) I walked away feeling pretty good that she was going to be okay and hopefully enjoy it!

She has one hour left before I go back to pick her up. I'm anxious to hear what she has to say. :)
