Our families know!

We told Dean's family on Sunday night when they came over for dinner! We didn't know if it was going to work out since I was sick, but we had REALLY been looking forward to it so we kept things as planned. Barb (Dean's mom) had talked to Dean on the phone earlier in the evening and said that they didn't have to come over if I wasn't feeling well. My first thought was "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" I really felt pretty crappy, but really wanted the night to work out!
After a few drinks had been poured (none for me, of course ) and we chatted for a bit in the kitchen, I went and grabbed the little boxes and said we had a late Valentine's Day present for them. I actually got nervous watching them open them...I could feel my heart thumping! I was so excited for them to know!

While we watched them open them, I decided that the tissue paper AND ribbon was overkill...it felt like it took forever to open!! I wish I had a hidden camera somewhere! It was so fun to watch! Barb guessed it was underwear (hehe) and then I don't remember if it was Marla or Barb who guessed a onesie. Once the word "onesie" was in the air, I think they had an idea and knew what was going on. After they were completely opened, there were hugs and tears everywhere. SO fun! It felt really good to finally tell them...it was the longest week ever to not be able to say anything!! We have a proud Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Marla! This will be the first grandchild for Dean's parents! (Barb said it had crossed her mind that maybe this was why we invited them over for dinner...which means we don't have them over for dinner often enough!! Dean said we wouldn't wait until our next baby to get together again at our house!)
We had to wait til Monday (yesterday) to tell my family because my parents have been in Taiwan for the last three weeks. My brother always picks them up from the airport and we have this weird tradition now where the whole family goes over to my parents' house and we watch them open their four huge suitcases full of stuff that they brought back. The living room ends up looking like a yard sale.

I was hoping that this time wouldn't be any different and that everyone would be over there, but my brother seemed a little iffy about it because he had so much to do at home after work. I asked him a couple times if he was going to head over there, but he seemed pretty hesitant and I didn't want to keep bugging him about it. SO, I decided that I would just give him his onesie first. I told him he had to go to the back room at work and that he couldn't show anyone what was in it. I think I freaked him out cuz he was convinced that something was going to pop out of the box so he was holding the box as far away as possible. Weirdo. I watched him open it and at first, the onesie was upside down and he kind of just let out this little laugh and smiled but then he kind of just froze and his face dropped and I could see the wheels turning in his head. He said, "Wait." and looked at me and said, "Really?!?" And he gave me a HUG! Ping's not a huggy person (with me anyways) so it was a big deal. He said at first he thought it was something I made for one of his kids and then he realized the wording was all wrong because it said I Uncle Ping on it. So NOW he wanted to go over to my parents' house and he made me promise that I would wait for him to get over there to do the rest of the onesies.

So once Ping got over to my parents' house, I got the little boxes out and handed them to my mom, dad, and Lindsey. I think Lindsey knew right away because she's been so anxious for it but she held it in until my mom had hers open...then the screaming started. Lindsey started screaming and then my MOM was screaming...I don't think I've ever heard my mom scream like that in all my life! It was hilarious! And then my 3-year old niece, Haylee had no idea what was going on but decided to scream too. My poor dad seemed to be confused at what the ruckus was about so in the middle of screaming and jumping, my mom said that I was pregnant. THEN, my mom proceeded to hit me with the onesie I just gave her because she said I should have told her while she was in Taiwan so she could've bought things for the baby. That's exactly why I didn't tell her...she would have come home with the entire country. Seriously.

We also told Tom, Jim, Lisa, and Jamie...there are still a couple people I'd like to call and then we'll probably wait a while longer to tell more people.

We are so thrilled and blessed that we have two amazing families and a group of wonderful friends who are so loving and supportive in every way. It's been so exciting to be able to share this with them. What a lucky baby we're going to have!

***I don't mean to write a freaking novel everytime, sorry!***
