Aubree zoo day!

Aubree and I went to the zoo last Friday with Johnny and some of Syd's family who were in town visiting. It was a FUN day! :)

Why wouldn't you dress like Elsa to go on a walk?

Making wishes ✨

My parents are currently in Taiwan so I'm at home with Miss Aubree every day.  We started our second week today. By the time my parents are home, it will have been a month! So far, I'm really loving my time with Aubree. It's rare that she and I have time as just the two of us, so it's been fun! I've tried to keep our days busy running errands and being out and about. We've done a lot of shopping and just walking around stores. If anything, I can turn her into a little girl who doesn't act like a freak job any time we set foot in any store other than Hy-Vee. We went to several places in a row today and she did just great. We shopped a little, went and saw Dean at his office, went out to lunch with Dean, and then stopped at a couple more stores. By the time we got home, it was almost time to go pick up Ayla from school. She is so good when it's just one-on-one...and same with Ayla. When they're together, I think they're competing for attention and they both know how to egg each other on so then a battle ensues. You'd think that they would love to be around each other after a whole day apart while Ayla's at school. But no. It's WWIII every afternoon during the week. However, on the weekends, I feel like we rarely see them because they will play together for literally hours. I'll take it. On Tuesdays, while Aubree is in preschool (while my parents are out of town), I have a whole two and a half hours to do WHATEVER. I. WANT. This is huge, people. So huge that for my first free Tuesday last week, I chose to go to Hy-Vee to get groceries and then home to take a shower. It's the little things. :)

Homework time! :)

Official big girl bed for Aubree

We finally switched Aubree to a twin size bed from her crib-turned-toddler-bed a couple of weeks ago. She loves it! :) Dean did it while I was out one day. I think it was good that I wasn't there. I would've been sad to see the crib officially come down after almost six years.

She's doing well so far. She's only fallen out of bed once. :) A couple nights ago, I was watching TV downstairs and heard a thud. When I went up to her room, she was sitting on the ground, wrapped up in her comforter, crying quietly. :( I felt so bad for her! I tried to ask her if she bonked her head, but she was pretty out of it so I put her back in bed and she was out in seconds. It must not have been too traumatic because when I told her about it in the morning, she didn't remember it happening. She was actually adamant about it NOT ever happening.

Aubree's First Day of Preschool!

Aubree started her first year of preschool this morning. She still seems too tiny to be going to school...I can't believe this day is already here. She has been excited to start. We've all been talking it up (especially big sister, Ayla). :) I haven't really thought about it a ton (about her starting preschool) like I did when Ayla started. It's like the band-aid has already been ripped off because I've gone through it once already...but all of a sudden, I was totally weirded out this morning thinking about how this is the end of a chapter. From now on, I won't have a child home with me all day. I'm off work this week, so it's strange. Once I'm back at work, I won't notice it as much but it's still weird to think about. And also, from here on out, I will have a child in school for the next 20 years. Whoa. Crazy. I'm excited for this new stage. It's good for them. It's good for me. Of course, they're so cute when they're tiny babies...but it's so fun to have two little people I can actually talk to. :)
Breakfast before school!

Love this one. :)

I know I'm biased, but seriously...they're so cute, I can't even stand it.

As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, we spotted her little friend, Rielle. Dean and I went to college with Rielle's parents and their son, Cohen, was in Ayla's preschool class last year and now they are both at the same elementary school. I think it really helped both little girls to have each other there. Familiar faces are always nice. :)

Aubree was totally at ease while we waited for the door to the classroom to open but as soon as her teacher, Mrs. P, swung that door open, her little head whipped around and she gave me this look. Like holy sh*t, you're actually going to make me do this?! Her eyes got big, her little lip stuck out and her finger went up to her mouth. I panicked on the inside. I thought, "OMG, she's going to have one of her epic tantrums and I'll have to leave her in the midst of it." I just smiled and said, "It's ok! It's time to go in with Rielle!" She hesitated for another second but then they grabbed hands and walked in without looking back. Whew.

After walking in, they had to find their name on the ground and then go find their spot at one of the tables.
We watched for a couple of minutes from the door and they both seemed to be doing okay. Once all the kids were in, we walked around to a different door and peeked in through a window for another few minutes. They had all the kids sitting in a circle, quiet, and listening within a minute. Aubree looked a bit bewildered at first but then seemed more relaxed once Mrs. P had them clapping and following along to hand movements. I saw a brief smile when Mrs. P chanted, "If your name is Aubree, please stand up!" So far, so good. :) I walked away feeling pretty good that she was going to be okay and hopefully enjoy it!

She has one hour left before I go back to pick her up. I'm anxious to hear what she has to say. :)

First day of preschool! I can't believe how quickly this day came!

Whomever came up with the idea for these little mini-carts didn't have kids or ankles.

Cell phone photo binge

Ok, so the next several pictures are of the girls jumping off a chair. Yes. Not only did I let them repeatedly jump off furniture, I took pictures. They were having so much fun and NOT FIGHTING. So there we go. Judge if you must. :)

Yummy peaches from Yeh-Yeh and Nai-Nai's peach tree! Our favorite!

Playing at Yeh-Yeh and Nai-Nai's...can you spot Aubree??
