I'm off work this week because my parents are still out of town. I will be watching my little 3-year old niece, Makayla, Monday through Thursday while my brother's at work for a few hours. So far, so good! All three girls have been playing very well together...no meltdowns or battles yet! :)

Two crazy little girls fast asleep

We went out to dinner tonight and as soon as we got back to the hotel room, we got the girls ready for bed. They were both asleep within minutes. We are pretty lucky that they adapt so well and are able to sleep wherever. :)

On the road again...and Aubree's language explosion

We left Ohio this morning around 9:30 and drove to Davenport, Iowa where we're currently sitting in a hotel room.  We drove for about eight hours and will have just a few more to go tomorrow.  The girls got a little antsy (including THIS girl) but we made it with no issues at all.

It was a great trip and it was so good to see everyone!  I feel like all we did was eat and drink for a week straight!  Good stuff. :)

During the week, Aubree had quite the language explosion.  She was really picking up a lot of words lately, but this week, it was nuts.  She's been talking up a storm and repeating everything we say and learning new words and phrases every day.  It has been so fascinating to witness.  It's amazing what their little minds can do in such a short amount of time.  She was hearing Ayla and cousin Amber counting while they played hide and seek so she started to pick it up.  She counted to six yesterday!  I know she doesn't know what it is and is only mimicking, but it's still super cool.  She does know what TWO things are...for example, in her Goodnight Moon book, there were two kittens on the page and she said "one, two kitties!"  She's starting to make all these little connections.  She also tries to sing Happy Birthday--so far it's "birthday to you!"  Cute. :)  Bad thing is, she hasn't been sleeping as well the past few days.  She wakes up early and practices just about every word she knows.  I've read that when they learn new things--crawling, walking, talking, etc., their sleep changes because they want to be up "practicing" their newfound skills.  It's so fun to hear what she has to say...she's growing up so fast!

"Are we there yet? How much longer?"
