Shrimp boil with the neighbors

A couple of weekends ago, we had our neighbors over for a shrimp boil.  We had been talking about it for a long time and finally figured out a time to do it.  It was a beautiful evening for it...great weather, great food, great company.  We are really going to miss our neighbors--the driveway get-togethers, seeing all the kids play, the annual fireworks show.  They are all awesome people and leaving them is going to be hard.  :(

Aubree's 18-month appointment

Aubree had her 18-month check-up this afternoon. She did so well the entire time Dr.Davey was checking her...just sat there without a peep. I'm always amazed at how he can get her to sit so still. He quickly stepped out of the room to grab a new diaper and she protested until he walked back in. I think she likes him. :)

Poor baby had to get three shots at the end of the appointment. At that point, she had already been begging to leave so holding her down for shots didn't help the situation. She screamed for a couple minutes but was much better once she was back in my arms. And even better when I let her pick out a sucker before we left. :)

She looked great all around--weighed in at 23 lbs 15 oz (42nd percentile). Judy (the nurse commented on how she didn't look like she could weigh nearly 24 lbs...looks tiny but somehow packs it in there). She is 32 3/4 inches long (77th percentile)...we think. That was on the second attempt...she was pretty squirmy and resistant on the scale. And her head circumference is at the 62nd percentile.

Field trip to Gifford Farm

Today was Ayla's class field trip to a farm in Bellevue. Thanks to my trusty 'ol GPS on my new iPhone, we took a detour through a scary/deserted/decrepit little area in freaking Council Bluffs next to the river. Thank goodness my guardian angel was watching over me because a policeman happened to be driving toward us and led me back to the main road. Eventually we made it and had a blast. :)

Mommy-Ayla date

Ayla and I went out to dinner tonight...just the two of us. I love getting to have one on one time with her. She has been an angel this evening! After dinner at Fuddrucker's, we came home and I let her take a bubble bath in our big jacuzzi tub. She is in heaven right now with bubbles up to her head. :)

18-months

Aubree turned 18-months on the 22nd! Right now, our lives=packing up our house. As much as it pains me to not have an 18-month post up with pictures yet, I need to wait until life slows down a bit to do it! Stay tuned! :)

Shoes!

Aubree can often be heard saying, "Shoes? Shoes?"  She's been into anyone and everyone's shoes lately.  She knows that when we put them on, it's time to go somewhere.  She will go and grab a (correct) pair for each of us before we leave. So cute.  She also just loves putting them on and clomping around the house.  In the pictures below, she's sportin' Dean's shoes.  "Daddy shoes!" she said. :)

Enjoying the weather

The weather has been beautiful lately.  I was starting to doubt that it was ever going to cool down.  We have been taking advantage of the milder temps and spending more time outside.  Lately, I've been obsessed with taking as many pictures as I can in and around our house since we only have a couple of weeks left. :( Since the girls are so young, they won't remember much about their first home...well, Ayla might with her crazy memory...but Aubree is way too little.  I'm planning on making a video of the house for them before we move so they can watch it someday.

Showing off the bouquet she made.

Happy girl!  (I swear her hair has quit growing.)

This one makes me smile--our little princess in her pretty dress and our little tornado, hair all a-mess, but as cute as ever.  They are so different...I love them so much.
